What’s it really like to be part of the close-knit team here at Premier Resourcing?

We caught up with Charli, one of our newest recruitment consultants, to give you an insider’s view of life behind the scenes at our bespoke recruitment consultancy.

A bit of background about me
I joined the Premier Resourcing team in May, having just completed a Psychology degree at Anglia Ruskin University. Since then, I have gained a wealth of experience, been promoted from Graduate Recruitment Consultant to Recruitment Consultant and been trusted to take on greater responsibility.

A typical day
In all honesty, there is no such thing as a typical day in recruitment! It’s an incredibly fast-moving industry that really likes to keep you on your toes – being flexible and proactive is key.

To give you a sense of our world, I kept a diary for a few days and here are some of the things I got up to!

Up early and on a train to London to meet with one of my new clients. I have been working with them for about 3 months now and I am keen to meet with them to put a face to the name, as well as learn about their recruitment needs so I can support these in the best way!

They are in a hugely exciting growth phase, as well as establishing themselves as an award-winning agency so I am keen to prove myself, and our services, in the best way. I take my time to pour over their website, picking up details in their news articles and work portfolio – it’s important to me to fully understand my clients so I can represent them to the highest standard.

Arriving at my client’s London office, I’m given a tour of their space, including collaborative working area and studio). Located in trendy Farringdon, this warehouse-style office is a truly creative hub!

We then sit down to have a more in depth discussion about what they are looking for and how I can help them.

After spending over an hour with my client – discussing their strategy for future growth and three current vacancies they are looking to fill – I am on the train back to work. I use my time productively to call and email some of the candidates that are already on my books, who I think could be a fantastic fit for the team I just met.

Recruitment is a fast-moving business and there is no time to lose!

I get back to our Cambridge office and it’s all systems go! I catch up with candidates and clients I am currently working with – some for interview feedback, some for details of new vacancies and some to discuss CV’s that have just been shared with me.

As well as liaising between candidates and clients during the recruitment process, a lot of our job is to counsel and support people through the process. This involves offering candidates advice on everything from maximising the impact of their CV to preparing for interview and helping our clients attract the most talented candidates, and giving them advice on the current market

Proactive headhunting is a huge part of our process here at Premier Resourcing and I always make sure I set aside a few hours at the end of the day to review the profiles of various talented individuals on LinkedIn. As a collaborative and open team, this vital process often becomes a combined effort.

The team here are incredibly supportive and, we often working together to overcome any obstacles.

The end of the day approaches and I begin planning for tomorrow, – always remembering how unpredictable a “typical” day in the life of a recruiter can be! It’s been a great first six months in recruitment and I feel proud to be part of such a talented team. We work hard but we also enjoy each other’s company and all share a passion for recruitment. I’m excited about another varied day in the office!
