My client is a leading healthcare communications consultancy working with complex, regulated brands across pharmaceuticals, biotech, consumer health and medical science. The agency is known for senior counsel, strategic rigour and delivery excellence. They are now looking to appoint an Account Director as part of continued growth.
This is a demanding role with real accountability. It will suit a Senior Account Manager who is already operating beyond their title and is ready to step into full Account Director responsibility.
The brief
This position sits at the heart of client delivery and commercial performance. You’ll be trusted to run accounts end-to-end, own senior relationships and ensure work consistently meets a high strategic and creative bar.
Rather than inheriting a “safe” portfolio, you’ll be expected to bring judgement, pace and leadership, spotting risks early, elevating output and pushing both clients and teams forward.
What success looks like
In the first 12 months, you will have:

Taken ownership of multiple healthcare accounts with minimal oversight

Built credibility as a senior adviser with clients and internal stakeholders

What my client needs from you
You’ll bring agency experience in healthcare communications, alongside the confidence and maturity to operate at Account Director level.
This role requires:

Strong experience in PR and communications within an agency environment

A background in healthcare, pharma or life sciences (regulated comms experience essential)

Proven ability to lead accounts and manage senior client relationships
-
Excellent strategic thinking and editorial standards
-
Confidence managing budgets, resourcing and delivery across multiple accounts
-
A collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach and challenge teams
-
Commercial awareness and an interest in growing client accounts
Familiarity with ABPI guidance is helpful but not a prerequisite.
Key responsibilities

Acting as the senior day-to-day contact across a portfolio of healthcare clients

Leading integrated programmes spanning corporate, HCP, patient and consumer audiences

Overseeing media relations, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and content strategy

Ensuring work is strategically sound, compliant and delivered to a consistently high standard

Managing teams and ensuring efficient, profitable account delivery

Contributing to pitches, credentials and new business opportunities
