Our quick-fire Q&A will give you an insight into what it’s really like in the world of recruitment, and what it takes to make your recruitment career a success.

Q: Working in recruitment

A: It’s no lie that the world of recruitment is fast paced and not for the faint hearted, but it is also hugely satisfying and (if done right) has the potential to be very lucrative!

If you’re up for a career change, or you’re a graduate looking for options that give you the experience and opportunities to kick start your career – you’re in exactly the right place.

To help, we’ve put together a short and suit Q&A to give you an insight into what it really is like in the world of recruitment, and what it takes to make your recruitment career a success.

Q. Why recruitment?

A. Aside from the earning potential and clear career progression opportunities, a career in recruitment is extremely rewarding, diverse and exciting. There’s certainly never a dull moment in recruitment, and we promise that you will never be clock watching! If you’re up for a challenge, you love working with people and you want a career where you see the benefits straight away this is for you.

Q. So, what’s it really like to work in recruitment?

A. As a recruitment consultant no two days are the same. Each day will present new opportunities to find and help new clients, speak to talented candidates looking for their next job, and place candidates for that all-important commission! There will be times where you have to deal with challenging situations, so a confident and resilient attitude is key! But our collaborative environment will help you to handle these situations, and make them work for you in the long run.

Q. What qualifications do I need to be a trainee recruitment consultant?

A. You can be a great recruitment consultant without any specific qualifications. We value a positive attitude, an ambitious mindset and an eagerness to succeed. You get what you put in with recruitment. That being said we love celebrating those who have worked hard to achieve their degree (or equivalent) as this is advantageous to kick-start your career in recruitment.

Q. What skills are helpful for a career in recruitment?

A. Recruitment is a people-focused career so it’s important to be able to build rapport and establish relationships. You need to be an expert communicator, have strong time management skills and be able to succeed under pressure.

Q. What does it take to be a successful recruiter?

A. To be a successful recruiter you need to be self-motivated, resilient and customer-centric. If you’re a confident go-getter who thrives of a bit of healthy competition, then this industry is perfect for you. It can be demanding at times, but at Premier you will get endless support and opportunities to hone your skills to be the best you can be.

Q. What’s the working environment like at Premier?

A. The working environment at Premier is pretty unique. We pride ourselves on having an environment that celebrates success, that supports and collaborates in challenging situations, and constantly develops consultants to be the best they can be. At Premier you will be joining a team of like-minded people that are there to work hard (and play hard) and who thrive off the fast-paced nature of the job.

Q. How will Premier help me succeed?

A. We are an ambitious and growing business at Premier, and we invest in our people who are contributing to our overall success. You will have a dedicated mentor when you join us who will be there every step of the way, along with regular catch ups and a team of experienced consultants who are always on hand to help!
