London | Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office
£60,000-£65,000 depending on experience + bonus and benefits
I'm working with my client, an independent B2B and corporate communications agency, who are looking to appoint an ambitious and experienced Senior Account Director as they enter an exciting period of growth.
This is a genuinely interesting opportunity for an experienced AD/SAD who wants to work on high-level corporate communications, complex international businesses and senior stakeholder engagement, but without the layers, politics and hierarchy that can come with the larger corporate agencies.
Why this role?
My client is an agency with big-agency expertise and an independent-agency mindset.
They're deliberately different from the traditional corporate communications consultancy — entrepreneurial, straight-talking and highly relationship-led. The team works as an extension of their clients' businesses, getting close to the issues that matter and providing senior counsel rather than simply delivering against a brief.
They're also growing, with an increasingly international client portfolio and ambitious plans for the future.
That means this isn't a role where you'll simply inherit a portfolio and be told to keep things ticking over. You'll have a genuine opportunity to shape client relationships, contribute to new business and influence where the agency goes next.
The opportunity
You'll join at a senior level and play a key role across some genuinely interesting corporate and B2B communications programmes.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Lead senior client relationships, becoming a trusted adviser to C-suite and senior stakeholders
- Develop and deliver sophisticated corporate reputation and communications strategies
- Lead international communications programmes across complex organisations and multiple markets
- Shape corporate positioning, messaging and narratives around important business issues
- Develop thought leadership and C-suite profiling programmes
- Lead proactive media relations and high-impact campaigns
- Provide strategic counsel around reputation, issues and crisis communications
- Oversee integrated work across content, social, digital, events and internal communications
- Work with international agency partners and client teams across different markets
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and develop new areas of work
- Get involved in new business, pitches and the wider commercial growth of the agency
- Work closely with the senior team and have a genuine voice in the agency's strategic direction
The work
The client portfolio is made up of high-profile, complex organisations, with work spanning sectors including industrials, infrastructure, logistics, technology, healthcare and consumer brands.
Think corporate reputation, thought leadership, C-suite profiling, media relations, issues and crisis communications, international campaigns, content, social, events and stakeholder engagement.
The international element is particularly exciting, with the agency increasingly supporting clients across multiple markets and working with international agency partners.
Who we're looking for
This role would suit an experienced Account Director looking to step up or new Senior Account Director who is ready for a role with greater autonomy, influence and commercial exposure.
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience leading communications for international clients
- Strong agency experience across corporate and/or B2B communications
- Experience working with complex organisations and senior stakeholders
- A strong track record of leading client relationships and strategic programmes
- The confidence to provide senior counsel and challenge clients constructively
- Excellent media relations and communications skills
- Strong strategic thinking, alongside the ability to remain close to delivery
- Excellent project management and organisational skills
- An interest in new business, account growth and commercial development
- An entrepreneurial mindset and the confidence to spot opportunities and make things happen
Another European language would be a bonus, given the increasingly global nature of the work.
What's exciting about it?
For me, the biggest attraction is the opportunity to join an agency at a point where you can genuinely make your mark.
You'll be working closely with the senior team rather than sitting several layers below them. You'll have visibility with senior clients, exposure to interesting and complex communications challenges, and the opportunity to help shape both the work and the agency itself.
It's a chance to take the strategic, sophisticated work you'd expect from a leading corporate communications consultancy, but in a more entrepreneurial environment where your ideas, relationships and commercial instincts can actually influence what happens next.
If you're ambitious, commercially minded and looking for a senior agency role where you're more than just another cog in the machine, I'd love to hear from you.
For this role I cannot consider candidates who require sponsorship.
