The client: Independent B2B Technology Agency

This specialist agency has spent nearly two decades focused entirely on business tech, working with global enterprise names and high-growth challengers across cyber, cloud, AI, telecoms and enterprise software. It's one of the most awarded independents in the sector, most recently named Tech Agency of the Year at one of the industry's leading awards. The work is research-led and integrated across PR and marketing, supported by proprietary in-house tools, and measured on commercial impact rather than coverage volume. The whole team is super lovely, supportive and very social. 

The role: Account Director

This is a senior seat at the operational heart of the account teams. Stepping back from hands-on drafting and pitching, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of campaigns — their profitability, their renewals, their strategic direction and their teams. You'll be the senior escalation point for clients, the person who protects a bold idea when a cautious client wants to soften it, and the operational safety net that lets your teams take smart risks.

You'll own your portfolio's profitability, managing resourcing, budgets and capacity to keep accounts running at target margins. You'll lead contract renewals, drive organic growth by bringing in the agency's wider content, digital and creative services, and act as the definitive owner of each account's annual strategy. You'll sign off the highest-stakes work, provide calm counsel through issues and reputational challenges, and line manage and develop your Senior Account Managers — leading their appraisals and guiding them toward promotion.

The role will need around 6 + years' agency experience, a track record of managing sizeable B2B tech retainer portfolios, strong commercial instincts across margins and fee negotiation, and the executive presence to be treated as a trusted advisor in the boardroom. Above all, they're looking for a strong people leader who can build and retain high-performing teams.
